"Laetiporus sulphureus" was done from the same group of fungus as the pastel paintings depicted.
This drawing was done on black paper, which made getting the very bright, light colors a real challenge.

- Drawing elaborate scenes of my home and animals absorbed many hours of my childhood. Then other interests took over and I drew only when a friend wanted a poster or wedding invitation. Now the always changing beauty of the unglaciated "driftless region" of Wisconsin inspires me to take up painting. Pastels offer an intense, pure color, directly expressing the feeling of the scene. They are somewhat of a challenge to work with though! I'm a member of VIVA gallery in Viroqua, a cooperative gallery of local artists.
